Barnwood Indian Express consists of unique, reclaimed oak planks sourced from old railway sleepers in India. India has one of the busiest railway networks in the world, transporting millions of passengers daily. The wood used for this has an impressive history and bears the marks of intensive use and extreme conditions.
During the British colonial period, railway lines were constructed using a mix of American and European oak. These solid beams have served for years under heavy loads, resulting in an exceptionally robust and characterful appearance.
After their use as railway sleepers, the beams are carefully processed into planks of approximately 40 mm thick. The original features are preserved, such as the typical holes where the rails were once attached. These unique details give each plank an authentic and industrial character that cannot be matched by new wood.
Barnwood Indian Express is completely natural and untreated with chemicals, giving the product a pure and honest appearance. This makes it particularly suitable for interior applications where authenticity and character are central.
